General Festival Information for 2008
Each year, beginning in 1997, Three Rivers Folklife Society (3RFS) has sponsored Tumbleweed Music Festival and Songwriting Contest in Richland, WA, on Saturday and Sunday of Labor Day weekend. This is our twelfth year!
Both days will be filled with free acoustic music (Evening events will be by admission.) Relax in your lawn chair or on a blanket as you enjoy music on four outdoor stages, or come inside to the air-conditioned Community Center to watch dance performances, participate in dance lessons, or take in a free music workshop. We also have an open mike stage. Several hours each day will be devoted to music and storytelling for kids. For 2008, we expect to have over one hundred acts offering traditional and contemporary folk, blues, bluegrass, ballet, gospel, Cajun, Celtic, Caribbean, classical, jazz, western and country, opera, drama, Middle Eastern, folklorico, old-time music and dance, and more. A songwriting contest, and a participatory band scramble will showcase special talents and offer prizes for the adventurous.
The theme for the 2008 song writing contest is Generations. Downloadable application forms for performers and songwriters are being accepted till May 10. Applications for artists and crafts folks, and food vendors also will be posted on the web site soon. Please check back later.
